Liposuction Surgery in Reno

Weight loss can greatly improve your body composition, but it can’t always give you the body that you want. There will still be those “problem areas” – isolated pockets of fat resistant to diet and exercise – that somehow make your body look disproportionate or out of shape. Liposuction is a body-contouring procedure performed by Dr. Kiener that’s highly effective in eliminating these localized fat deposits, giving you a slimmer, more sculpted physique.
Usually performed with a tummy tuck, liposuction can eliminate fat from and shape nearly any part of the body – abdomen, hips, buttocks, upper arms, chest area, chin and neck, thighs, knees, or back. It is important to note, however, that liposuction is neither a method for weight loss nor a substitute for exercise and a healthy diet.

Who Should Get Liposuction?

  • Individuals who are at a healthy weight, but have isolated pockets of fat resistant to diet and exercise
  • Individuals who wish to have a more desirable contour in any of the body areas mentioned above

The Surgery

Liposuction is performed under general or local anesthesia. After the patient has been placed under anesthesia or mild sedation, Dr. Kiener makes tiny, inconspicuous incisions in the areas the patient wishes to have treated and removes the excess fat using a small suction tube called a cannula. Incisions are left open to allow drainage. Patients are required to wear a compression dressing for up to six weeks to minimize the swelling and support the treated area(s).

Recovery periods vary, depending on how much fat was removed during the procedure. Patients are encouraged to move or walk around within 24 hours after surgery to promote blood circulation. Generally, patients can resume most of their normal activities within one to two weeks following surgery. Within three weeks, patients can undertake more strenuous activities. Swelling and bruising are to be expected, but are temporary and will subside in several weeks.
Dr. Kiener gives thorough post-op instructions, so patients can heal properly and achieve the best results.
